My little girl enjoyed this book!
My daughter has always since she was 6 months old loved Bear in the Big Blue House and so we bought her this book and she absolutley loved it. She liked identifying the foods because most of them were her favorites also.

Feed your child's mind with Bear!
Our toddler loves Bear and can often be looking at one of her Bear books. Before dinner each evening she wants us to read Bear Loves Food!

In this Bear book Bear talks about different types of food that he loves. He shows that a good variety of foods are just as much his favorites as others. He also introduces Pip, Pop, Treelo, Ojo, and Tutter and their favorite foods.

Bear Loves Food is one of our favorites and I am sure it can be one of yours too!

My son loves this book
I picked it up at the library because it has a cute cover, but what is inside is even better! It's a very cute book about a bear who tries to get rid of his shadow and the things he tries will fill the room with laughter. We also read Bear's Bargain and it's very good, too!

Very Cute, Holds Interest
My son loved this book! He even knew what would happen next and laughed and enjoyed seeing how silly bear was by trying to bury his own shadow. This was an excellent book, not too long, not too short and he will look forward to reading it by himself this year when he learns to read.

Fantastic book! Holds interest. Covers shadows for science.
Frank Asch has come to be one of my favorite children's authors

My Husband reads this book to my 2 year old several nights a week. She loves it! When you turn out the lights or use a flashlight certain things glow on each page. This is one of her favoite books for 6 months now.

Wow! Bears, Bears, and More Bears!
This book was given to us as a gift and my six children(ages 2-13) were immediately captivated by its cover alone! This "loaded" books contains anything and everything you ever wanted to know about bears and brings them to life through beautiful and often breathtaking pictures. While this book is intended for the 9-12 year old crowd, I quickly discovered that all the children love it and glean what they are interested in from it at their various educational levels. Its easy-to-use format of short paragraphs, catchy headlines, and an index lends itself to self-exploration. As we homeschool our children, I quickly discovered that this book works out wonderfully as a complete science study of bears and would lend itself to doing a unit study incorporating other subjects. If you are a homeschooler, your family might enjoy turning to page 63 to discover how bears learn. I highly recommend this book and believe any reader will be just as delighted as we are with this book. My thanks goes to a loving aunt who thought of our family when she heard about this book...thanks for the gift, Aunt Jo!

Book review found in the newsletter, International Bear News
Reviewed by Harry Reynolds, AK Dept of Fish and Game International Bear News, Feb 2001, p. 33

This book well fulfills its purpose to arouse the interest of readers, ages 9 to 16 years, about what makes bears unique. Based on very good questions about bear biology from young readers, it presents interesting and accurate information on each of the eight bear species. The questions, heavily illustrated with photos, are separated into eight subject groups: Great Bears, How Bears Live, The Bear's Body, the Bear's Senses, Eating Habits, Bear Reproduction, Self-Defense, and Bears and People.

In the Great Bears chapter, questions include: How many different kinds of bears are there? Which species is the largest and the smallest? How do scientists classify bears? The How Bears Live chapter, answers Where in the world do bears live? with text and a range map. Which bear is most common? is answered in numerical and distributional terms - the responses are designed to help students think critically. The Bears and People chapter dealt mostly with conservation and research. Its brief treatment of bear attacks was probably purposeful. However, because it is the most common fear of humans in bear country, it could have been more fully addressed.

The simple and straightforward questions are answered with enough detail to interest, not bore readers and provide a good understanding of bear biology and conservation issues. Most books like this suffer from inadequate or misinterpreted information - this one does not. This is an excellent book for youth, and most adults would learn from it as well.

Bears
Easy to read for the age group it is intended. But also informative for all ages. Most of us who have grown up playing with a "Teddy" want to know more, especially about the not so common bears. Good pictures and illustrations.

Bears Barge in
Published in Hardcover by Dream Factory Books (01 April, 2001)
Authors: Joni Sensel, Christopher L. Bivins, and Chris Bivins
Average review score:

Combines picturebook story whimsy and practical information
Very highly recommended for family, school, and community library children's books collections, Bears Bare In combines picturebook story whimsy with practical, factual information for helping children of all ages to stay safe while experiencing and appreciating nature. Zack is a boy who lives in the forest along with bears and other wild woodland creatures. As Zack's human neighbors multiply, Zack finds bears invading his bathroom! When the neighbors discover that Zack's house guests have fur and fangs, he must find ways to make room for both his old animal friends and his new neighbors. Chris Bivins's vividly colored illustrations are a perfect showcase for Joni Sensel's lively, original, and imaginative story.

Growth management for kids!
Bears Barge In is a book for young children about an adult problem--growth management and the preservation of space for wildlife. Ms. Sensel's use of rhyme creates a vivid picture of the plight of animals squeezed into smaller and smaller areas by the expansion of cities and towns. Anyone with kids will immediately understand young Zack's commitment to his furry friends as he tries to prove to his human neighbors that people and wildlife can coexist. His idealism is a fresh reminder of our responsibility to all the inhabitants of our planet, and perhaps plants a seed that will bloom someday in the adult minds of the book's readers. Beautifully illustrated, Bears Barge In is a great tool for teaching children about an important issue for our environment.

Fun Book for Kids! (And Parents)
I just wanted to let everyone know about Bears Barge In because it's a sweet and moving story that makes you laugh but also makes you think. And the illustrations are so fun and incredible. Kids love animals, and in the book they can read and learn about real wild animals, and interact with them. Also I hope the story can teach parents to get along with wild animals as we more and more invade their world. But it's presented in such a fun way! I totally recommend this book for kids of all ages.

Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning
Published in Paperback by Ten Speed Press (January, 2003)
Authors: John Bear, Mariah Bear, Tom Head, and Thomas Nixon
Average review score:

Want to earn an Education degree via distance learning?
I have a few of John Bear's books in my study and this book is a terrific publication. If you would like to earn your Education degree via distance learning...this is the book for you. You will find its authors have compiled an excellent resource pointing you in the right direction. Plenty of information is given concerning specific state certification and how you can navigate the need for student teaching via distance learning.

Buy this book if you are serious about earning an education degree!

For anyone interest in the education field
You can trust Bear to give you acurate, honest information on the schools he covers. This book is specifically written for anyone looking for a degree in the education field. Childhood development, elementary, ect. He covers it all including teaching credentuals, bachelor's degreees, master's degrees, and doctorates. I've bought other distance learning books but it's hard to go through each school looking not only for creditionals you can trust but also for the degree you want. I like the fact that this book only covers the type of degrees I'm interested in. Bear's also has several other distance degree books if education is not your field of study.

Excellent Distance Learning Resource
Dr. John Bear has once again provided the distance learner with an excellent resource volume. This newest addition to the Bears' Guide collection is a must have for those interested in educational programs via distance learning. Co-authored by Mariah Bear, Tom Head and Thomas Nixon, "Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees" profiles over 350 fully accredited distance learning credential and degree programs, ranging from the bachelor's through the doctorate. An entire chapter is devoted to meeting teacher licensing requirements, along with contact information for all fifty states.

As in previous editions, the value and importance of a properly accredited degree is discussed. Since degree mills have become problematic, both in the US and abroad, a degree from a properly accredited school is essential. Accreditation by an agency recognized by the US Dept. of Education, or its foreign equivalent, assures broad utility and recognition of a degree. By profiling only schools with this type of accreditation, Bear provides the distance learner with credible, legitimate and substantive options.

Several specific areas are detailed in terms of degree emphasis and specialization, e.g., administration, educational technology, religious education, library science, special education, distance education, K-12 and early childhood education, curriculum, etc.

Without reservation, this book is recommended for anyone interested in distance learning educational programs, as well as for reference use.

Beni's Family Treasury: Stories for the Jewish Holidays
Published in School & Library Binding by Henry Holt & Company, Inc. ()
Author: Jane Breskin Zalben
Average review score:

gentle, low-key stories about the Jewish holidays
I love the way these stories are gentle, but not so conflict-free as to be boring. They manage to convey a lot of information about the holidays, too, in a fun, low-key way. The illustrations couldn't be more charming. Best of all, children actually like them! I read "Beni's New Year" to a group of 5-7-year-olds this weekend, and they all SAT STILL and LISTENED, believe it or not, asking me to stop only so they could see the pictures.

Excellent children's stories for the jewish holidays
Beautiful illustrations enhance the quality of these charming stories surrounding the jewish holidays. Great for toddlers through elementary age children. Our Pre-school Rabbi read exerpts of Goldie's Purim during a recent tot shabbat. It was a big hit!! Highly recommend this book.

Should belong on every Jewish child's bookshelf
This book is a wonderful way to share the meaning of these holidays in a fun (but not sappy) way. I, um, work in a bookstore (no names here, please!) and picked this book out for her Grandmother to give to her (hence me being at the Amazon.com website! Um, our website didn't have this book!). There are a lot of books to help introduce a young child to the customs and celebrations of the holidays, but in my opinoin, this is the best of them all. And I should know!

The Berenstain Bears on the Moon (Bright & Early Book, Be 27)
Published in Hardcover by Random House (Merchandising) (March, 1985)
Authors: Stan Berenstain and Jan Berenstain
Average review score:

Send Your Child's Imagination to the Moon!
Although Amazon advertises this book for ages 4-8, my wife and I started reading this and other Stan and Jan Berenstain books to our children from 18 months and up. Always a delight, our kids would laugh at the silliness while learning a lesson about life. We started a great habit of reading two or three books before bed, and the kids loved them. Soon, they would memorize many of the phrases, beginning a lifelong passion for reading.

Every kid should experience reading books by the Berenstains while growing up. The characters are well developed, the rhyming phrases help kids become enthusiastic about reading, and the messages about life make them think. Bears On The Moon got my son and daughter asking questions about space and interested in the great beyond. Combine this with other fun Berenstain Bear books and your kids will sit enthralled as you turn the pages. Highly recommended.

The Bears go sci-fi!
"The Berenstain Bears on the Moon," by Stan and Jan Berenstain, is one of the best in the authors' excellent series of children's books. In this installment, Brother and Sister Bear, accompanied by their excitable pet dog, take a rocket trip to the moon and back.

Although the book's primary purpose is entertainment and literacy education, the Berenstains do get some of the science right. The portray the gravity-free environment of the space ship's interior during the voyage, and they also show that the gravity on the lunar surface is much less than that on Earth.

The book is illustrated in the typically appealing Berenstain Bears style. Particularly fun is the orange, green, and purple-colored rocket ship used by the intrepid space travelers. And the rhymes are equally fun. Example: "Two little bears / and one little pup. / They are off to the moon, / going up, up, up!" This irresistible adventure tale is definitely a high point in a beloved book series.

My toddler's favorite bedtime book!
My two year old son wants me to read this book to him several times a day. He never tires of hearing about the bear's adventure, and I think that he enjoys the rhythm of the words.

Bing*t Bears and Other Toys
Published in Hardcover by Schiffer Publishing, Ltd. (01 February, 2000)
Author: Ken Yenke

Finally Bing.....
For the advanced collector, there has been a shortage of information on Bing Bears in regards to identification, charm and market value until Ken Yenke wrote and complied wonderful photos of Bing Bears in this comprehensive book. As always, I am impressed and learn more than I had hoped when selecting one of Ken's books to add to my Teddy Bear Book reference library. A wonderful book for all who seek more knowledge about our loved...Teddy Bears.

Bing Bears and Other ToysThis book is much
This book is much more than a report of a company's products. It is an honest and direct account of what happened to a creative and productive enterprise under Hitler's oppression, and after that it is a beautiful description of the many fantastic items the company developed. Ken Yenke has made a fine contribution to the history of the German toy industry by describing the happenings that led to the demise of the Bing company. The pictures are terrific, and the dialogue is strong and exciting. You'll want to read every word and study every picture. I strongly recommend this book to all toy collectors.

Bing Bears & Toys by Ken Yenke
We, collectors have waited a long time for someone to write a comprehensive book on the wonderful world of Bing Bears & Toys. Ken Yenke has developed a book designed to educated the reader on the history of Bing, as well as, give remarkable early sketches and photos of Bings that most collectors never get an opportunity to actually see. I was quite impressed with the energy and apparent love that Ken Yenke has demonstrated throughout the book. The descriptions are concise yet informative; and the price guidelines help the novice collector and the advanced collector gauge their buying and selling scales. I looked forward to reading this book from the earliest whispers of its development and have not been disappointed in any way. I hope Ken Yenke continues to write books that are educational to collectors and also beautiful to the eye.
